ISEI welcomes submissions on all research topics relevant to the field of exercise immunology that will further the society’s mission to foster scientific research, education and the dissemination of scientific information, especially when directed towards the improvement of health, prevention and treatment of disease. Submissions should be new and unpublished research. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
• Immunonutrition
• Effects on innate and adaptive immunity
• Inflammaging and immunosenescence
• Precision and personalized approaches
• Effects on cancer and cancer therapeutics
• Immunometabolism and metabolic disease (e.g. diabetes)

The 15th ISEI Symposium will have an Early Career Investigator Colloquium as well as a designated slot for a new investigator in each of our oral presentation sessions. Please indicate if you are a new investigator in the comments box during the abstract submission. The ISEI defines a ‘new investigator’ as those with an academic rank (or equivalent) below that of Associate Professor and with no more than 7 years post terminal degree (e.g. PhD). Doctoral students and post-docs are considered new investigators.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: August 29th 2022 (5pm United States CT)
Guidelines for Abstract Submission
It is free to submit an abstract for consideration as an oral or poster presentation at the 15th ISEI symposium.
All symposium abstracts will be published in Frontiers in Sports and Active Living. A Special Research Topic entitled “Current Advances in Exercise Immunology” has been released to coincide with the ISEI meeting. The journals participating in this research topic include: Frontiers in Sports and Active Living, Frontiers in Physiology, Frontiers in Nutrition, and Frontiers in Immunology. Although not required to present at ISEI, we encourage you to submit your ISEI symposium abstract for consideration as a full research article in this special topic. If you intend to submit an abstract to the ISEI symposium but not to the research topic you can indicate this in the submission process.
As a primary goal, the abstract should render the general significance and conceptual advance of the work clearly accessible to a broad readership. In the abstract, minimize the use of abbreviations and do not cite references, figures or tables. For Clinical Trial articles, please include the Unique Identifier and the URL of the publicly accessible website on which the trial is registered. Abstracts should be limited to 300 words (not including title and author block).
You are asked to follow Frontiers guidelines when formatting your abstract. If you intend to submit an abstract to ISEI 2022 but not the special research topic article collection, you should only select Frontiers in Sports and Active Living as the participating journal. If you also intend to submit a full article for consideration in “Current Advances in Exercise Immunology” then you are free to select any of the participating journals. Please note that the participating journals have different article processing charges (APC), should you decide to participate in the article collection. The submitting author must be the intended presenter and all presenters must be registered to attend the meeting. Accepted abstracts will be selected for an oral or poster presentation. Decisions (accept or reject) on submitted abstracts will be made on a rolling basis and communicated with the presenting author within 2-weeks of submission. Presentation format (oral or poster) will be decided and presenters notified before August 31st 2022.
